PLATFORM PIZZA BAR, BRAY, CO WICKLOW

This funky new Pizzeria is located beside The Ocean Bar on the seafront in Bray.  We were on a 2 night break and the package included dinner on the second night so we wanted to find a nice place for dinner on the first night.  Bray has evolved very much over the last few years from a slightly down at heel seaside resort to a place with good restaurants and bars and less amusement arcades. We were passing by this venue when the friendly staff member gave us some info.  and invited us in to have a look and peruse the menus.  We decided to book it for that night for ourselves and our two teen daughters.

WARDRBOBE WARDRBOBE

On approaching the restaurant that night, there was a terrific buzz about the place, there was live music outside the Ocean Bar and the restaurant was almost full when we walked inside.  We were delighted we had booked.  Its a terrifically atmospheric place with exposed brickwork on the walls and loads of lamps and candles around the space,  the restrooms were located behind a wardrobe, giving them a narnia-like feel.  There was a nice casual seating area to the front with high stools and the rest of the venue set out in candlelit tables. The music was great and added to the buzz of the place but was never too loud. The prices were very reasonable with the average pizza working out at about 11 euro,  which was cheaper than a lot more of the less salubrious eateries around.  My daughters loved the atmosphere and were delighted we had booked the venue.  The staff were really nice and friendly and helpful. 3 out of 4 of us are vegan and the other vegi, so we had checked that the pizza bases did not contain dairy or egg.

Our pizzas duly arrived on wooden platters and looked amazing.  They were ample. The base had that wonderful stone-baked consistency and were deliciously thin and flavoursome.  They did not skimp on the veg and we were delighted we had not ordered a starter. Fresh chilli oil and black pepper also arrived to the table,  the chilli oil was wonderfully strong and aromatic.  We had a bottle of house wine which was lovely.  We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal,  the brilliant atmosphere and ambiance inside the restaurant, whilst the live music outside only contributed to our enjoyment.  This is a fantastic restaurant in Bray and we will definitely return. Fabulous staff, very reasonable prices, great atmosphere and amazing food.  Go check it out.
