CORTINAS MEXICAN RESTAURANT – DUNDRUM

This is my favourite restaurant in Dundrum.  Cortinas is located in The Pembroke Quarter beside Nandos.  It is a lovely bright airy colourful restaurant and yet intimate and candlelit.  The food is fantastic.  I have recently gone vegan, having previously been vegetarian for 27 years.  Further studies of the cruelty within the dairy industry left me with no choice.  I realised being vegetarian wasnt enough.  Cortinas have a regular menu, a gluten free , wheat free and dairy free menu also.  The prices are very reasonable too.  In order to celebrate Mexican Indpendence Day, Cortinas were giving free beers to the first 100 customers who should VIVA MEXICO!.  There was a barbeque on outside and the staff were dressed up and running in and out shouting Viva Mexico.  There was music on later at 10 0’clock. We duly embarrased our daughters by shouting the requisite Viva Mexico and received free beers, a good start to the evening.  3 of us choose of the dairy free menu, two vegi quesadillas  and 1 vegi taco and Jessie had regular veggie quesadillas.  At a price of 6.75, these main course are very reasonable.  The meals came down garnished with fresh corriander and filled with a delicious array of veg and black beans and salsa on the side.  For starters we ordered the salsa samplers, which is an array of varying dips and delicious fresh nachos at 9 euro, with free refills and a vegetable skewer with salad and beans and salsa, at a very reasonably priced 5 euro.  We were able to get this vegan as well.  The nachos are a must in Cortinas, mouthwateringly delicious.  We had a lovely bottle of shiraz to wash it all down.  it was Jessie’s 14th birthday celebration so she ordered dessert and the staff came down with a candlelit dessert and 3 of them sung to her.  We had a fabulous night.  I would highly recommend Cortinas Mexican, great atmosphere, fabulous food, reasonable prices and amazing staff, whats not to like?
