FREDA KAHLO AND DIEGO RIVERA EXHIBITION – IMMA.

This exhibition is on until 26th June in IMMA, Irish Museum of Modern Art (Heuston Station Luas Stop).  The interesting thing about this exhibition, as well as the art itself, is the relationship between the two artists.  There is so much information about their respective upbringings, how they met, the affairs they both had, when they split up etc.. so its very interesting looking at their works of art armed with this knowledge.

Kahlo is known for her many self-portraits and famous for her unibrow.  Rivera was more known for his murals.  Its wonderful to see so many of their works exhibited here.  Diego looks like a mean character, as many of the photographs herein demonstrate.  There are also a lot of photographs on the lower ground floor snapped by the renowned photographers of the day,  which we nearly missed, as the signposting wasn’t great.  This exhibition is set over three floors, its a fiver in but free on Fridays. Well worth a visit.
